Mississippi River

The mighty Mississippi River was a view we will never forget. Being from the West, we have only heard about the Mississippi River from the tales of Huckleberry Finn. While we saw no majestic steam paddle boats on the river, we did see this modern day vessel busy pushing a barge down the river, perhaps going all the way to New Orleans. While we still looked for the raft that Huckleberry Fin might be fishing from, we felt a part of the history of this mighty river. We were thankful that Mark Twain penned so many stories about this river. The name taken by Samuel Langhorne Clemens that meant two fathoms of water below the keel or in other words, they were in safe waters still lingered in our thoughts.
