Gold Mining Claim

This ghost photo was sent by Steve Bookout of toadhall@pcpartner.net.
Steve said, " I was panning for gold with the fellow who owns the claim in California and took this photo of his mining claim sign. This Mother Lode claim is in a remote canyon that has seen much history since 1850 and is located near the old Gold Dollar Trail. It was originally worked pretty extensively by the Greek miners. Have you any idea of what this anomaly might be? The lens were clean, dry, and unobstructed. The lens cap & cord were not with the camera, and the strap was around my neck. The camera was held sideways in order to obtain the most of the tree. There is something else located at the base of the tree as well. Here is a photo of my gold for your enjoyment, too. "
Dr. Dave's Notes:
Since Steve confirmed the strap was around his neck and the lens cap and cord were not on the camera, the white anomaly must be an orb in motion passing in front of the camera lens that is leaving a contrail. Gold prospectors are a strange breed of men, once gold fever strikes them, they can only see yellow. The 1/4 troy ounce of gold in the pan was more than enought to get my heart pumping again. All Sharon and I have panned in the past has been gold flakes, not chucks from the Colorado and San Juan Rivers. The gold in this pan is the kind we see on the Gold Prospector of America programs.
