This photo is an example of how some folks with a photo editing software program will attempts to fake a ghost photo. The above photo was sent to me by a person whose friend faked it to show it could be done. I disagree with the faker. His fake is easy to detect. The anomaly on the right was taken by a police office at the scene of the accident, at according to the popular version of the story. The image on the left is the crude faked version of the same. Notice the texture of the first anomaly, the white is solid while the ectoplasm of the image on the right is transparent in different areas, some more dense then others. Most fakers have not learned how to vary the density of their ectoplasmic creation to resemble the real thing yet!
The fake on the left was created by dragging the curser to create the white lines, notice how clear and precise the lines are. The entire fake appears to have been created under some stress because the lines are not relaxed and flowing, but rigid and harsh. Examine the head area and see how the author stopped and started his curser by the heavy concentration of white in a circular pattern. Fakes are easy to spot because they are created very quickly and this sloppiness shows in the creation. There is no money to be made from faked ghost photos so the really good fakers do not waste their time.
So when someone tells you it is easy to fake a ghost photo, remember, yes it is easy, but is they are also easy to spot by those of us who are knowledgeable. Fakes only fool the uninformed, not the trained ghost photographer.
