Chloride, AZ

Chloride, Arizona is an 1860 mining town that had a population of over 2,000 people and 50 working mines that were producing gold, silver, lead, copper and zinc. This is not a ghost town because there are still people living and working here. Many small tourist type shops are all over town, closed for the winter, but open in the summer months. Ghosts are not big on the minds of the locals because they claim their town isn't a ghost town. However, with the many deaths from mining accidents, we suspect a few old miners are still walking the streets and looking for that glory load. Their boothill was really rustic, but still be used today. Yes, that is an outhouse in the third row of photos.

We had lunch at the local cafe, imagine coffee for a quarter. One of the customers commented that he thought they had put a half pound of bacon in his sandwich. Lunch was great and their prices well below the norm. We had a nice time visiting the many sights found here. It is located about fifteen minutes north of Kingman.
